Step Up for Preventing Youth Violence

10 steps provided by Sandy Hook Promise

Start a SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club at your school, another school, community group or join an existing one.

Organize a Start With Hello Week activity at your school or youth organization this February 5 – 9.

Talk it out! Settle problems with words, not fighting or weapons.

Say Something , if you see, hear, or know of someone threatening to harm themselves or others.

Get some friends together and challenge each to do Random Acts of Kindness.

Serve as a Mentor/Positive Role Model for younger youth.

Organize a Safety Event for youth at your school like a SAF-T Rally, Keep the Peace Celebration, School Assembly, or a Get-Safe Poster or T-Shirt Design contest.

Share the Evan Video with friends and with your school so that youth learn to Know The Signs.

Ask how you can help!  Go to your administrator and see if you can represent your peers on a school safety committee.

Become a Promise Leader and help others in your community take action to prevent violence BEFORE it happens.
