Ways to Step Up over Summer Break

July 24, 2017

During the summer months, many college and high school students are released from their studies to enjoy summer break. These months are typically filled with work schedules and fun times with friends. However, I think that with all of the free time available, there are many activities that can also be done to better the world. Here’s a list of five ways to step up this summer.

1- Volunteer

There are many organizations that are always looking for people to volunteer. Try to check out local soup kitchens, shelters, animal rescue organizations etc. The help is needed in many situations.

2- Take a day to better the Earth.

Go to a local park or other outdoor area and pick up trash and take time to make everything look nicer and make the environment cleaner.

3-  Call Senators

Take time to call senators that represent your state about issues that you care about. People have more power than they know and calling your senators can have a great influence on important issues.

4- Get Inspired

Summer is a fun time full of freedom. Take some time to find inspiration in everything you do. Whatever it may be, there is inspiration in everything.

5- Go on adventures

Take the time to go on adventures that you normally would not. It doesn’t have to be anywhere special, just take the time to get out there and go. Don’t waste the time you have.

Hopefully this list was inspiring and offers some ideas for what to do this summer.

My name is Baylie Clevenger and I am 19 years old. I plan to attend Ball State University this fall and major in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. I have been writing since I was 15 and plan to do so for the rest of my life!
