When you have a huge following such as Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift, you have the power to be the voice of all of these followers. You have the ability to educate them and make a difference..

One of the celebrities who used their platform to educate others was Logic. During the VMA’s, he had suicide survivors on stage to let those who are struggling with suicide know that they can get through this. He touched on topics such as sexual assault, equality, and mental illness. Because of his performance, calls to suicide hotlines went up 50%. He used his performance time to educate viewers that these are topics that must be talked about, that we need to take a stand and step up for what’s right.

Another celebrity who has been vocal and been using her platform to educate her followers is Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony. She may be a singer and an artist, but she uses her platform for more than just talking about music. Lauren has recently made headlines when she defended DACA by telling President Trump that he disgusts her. Because of Lauren being vocal about the issues that are going on in the world, her followers have a better understanding of the issues. Lauren’s followers know about DACA and have been researching and asking questions about how to help.

Demi Lovato has also been vocal throughout her entire career. She has never been afraid to step up for what’s right and she has never struggled to step up for what she believes in. She has been vocal about her bipolar disorder and eating disorder. Because of her voice, she was able to touch the lives of many people who are going through these disorders. She has let them know that they are not alone and because of that, her followers feel accepted and loved. Demi always uses her voice to educate her followers and fans. She’s always sticking up for LGBTQ community and making sure they have the same rights as everyone else. A lot of of her fans felt comfortable coming out and felt safe because of Demi. Demi used her platform to help her followers and fans feel safe and accepted.

These are just three celebrities who have been vocal and used their platform for more than just talking about music. They made sure to use their platform to help change the world.
