With everything happening in the world, from school shootings and concert shootings to wildfires and murders, it can be hard to find hope in the dark. I try to be positive no matter what happens, and it does get hard, don’t get me wrong, but we have to remember that every obstacle is an opportunity to become stronger. Life doesn’t stop for anyone, so we have to find hope.

One of the ways I try to find hope in the dark is to remember all the nice things that total strangers have done for me. When I was younger, I was riding my bike in my neighborhood and I rode through a puddle and fell down. I scraped my knee to the point where a small part of my skin tore off. A stranger on his bike saw me and helped me up and he even helped me get home safely. Events like this always remind me that there are good people in the world. This gives me hope for the world.
Another way I like to find hope in the dark is to remember all of the people who have gone through tough times and then became stronger and happier afterwards. Kesha is one of my favorite artists and that’s because my best friend was obsessed with her. All he did was talk about her and it lead me to enjoy her music and also follow her story. It’s devastating to hear about what she has been through and what she continues to go through, but to see her happy and still pursuing her dreams is what motivates me to get up in the morning. If Kesha can continue to live her life, even after all the hard times, then so can I. She is proof that there is still hope that we can be happier and stronger.
I never used to be the most optimistic person in the world. In fact, I used to be extremely pessimistic. However, when I started to surround myself with optimistic people who always see the best in others and believe that there is good in everyone, I felt better because if these people can remain positive after everything going on in their life, then so can I. Surrounding yourself with people who try to be positive is a great way to find hope in the dark.
Finally, I try to find hope in the dark by listening to music, reading books, and watching movies that help me believe that life can get better. One of my favorite songs to listen to when I’m feeling lousy is “Life is Worth Living” by Justin Bieber. This song hits home for me and it’s a great reminder that everything happens for a reason and it’s important to keep going. ‘Remember the Titans’ is a great movie that I love to watch for inspiration and it gives me hope that if I continue to try my hardest, then I can succeed. A great book that I recommend is To Kill a Mockingbird. This is a sad book and the first half of the story broke my heart, but the messages and the incredible life lessons make it such an inspiring book that is definitely worth the read.
Finding hope in the dark can be hard, but sometimes you just have to change your perspective. Surround yourself with good people, remember all the nice things that strangers have done, think about everybody you know who has gone through a hard time and came out stronger, and listen to music that makes you feel great. Sometimes, you have to change your ways a little in order to find hope in the dark, and I hope these tips help you too.
