Ouai: Ouai was created by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, who stated that she wanted to create a “breath of fresh air” for real women in real life situations. Ouai products are free of cruelty, sulfate, paraben, and phthalate.


Glossier: Glossier was founded by Emily Weiss. Previously, Emily Weiss founded the blog “Into The Gloss,” interned with Ralph Lauren, served as a fashion assistant at W Magazine, and served as an on-set styling assistant for Vogue. Glossier believes in skin first, and all their products are cruelty-free.


Lush: Lush believes in making “effective products from fresh organic fruits and vegetables, the finest essential oils, and safe synthetics.” Lush is a leading beauty company that is fighting against animal testing. They believe in ethical buying, and they hand make their fresh and 100% vegetarian products.


Tarte Cosmetics: Tarte Cosmetics believes in glamorous makeup and ingredients that are good for you. They offer products that are free of cruelty, paraben, phthalate, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, and gluten.


e.l.f. Cosmetics: ELF was founded in 2004 with the mission of making luxurious, high-quality beauty products while becoming one of the fastest growing beauty companies in the United States. All ELF products are hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and vegan.


Love Beauty and Planet: This company was started by like-minded people who believe that “looking good and doing good should go hand-in-hand.” You can find Love Beauty and Planet at Target, where they have an array of their products, including body washes, hair care, and more. Love Beauty and Planet only uses 100% recycled materials to make their bottles, and they only leave a small carbon footprint when they make their products. Additionally, their products are vegan and free of cruelty, paraben, dye, and silicone. 


Thayer’s Natural Witch Hazel: Thayer’s was founded in 1847, and it has won many awards due to their excellence in preparation of fluid extracts. The products are gluten free and cruelty free.


Josie Maran Cosmetics: Josie Maran founded a self-named beauty company after being told that there would never be healthy beauty products. This cosmetic company believes that argan oil is a wonder oil, and they share their products in a way that “honors humans, animals, and the planet.”


Allanah Taylor is a 21-year-old communications student who is an avid lover of fashion, journalism, photography and travel. A fun fact about Allanah is that she is Welsh but has grown up in Canada and the U.S. for the majority of her life.
