How Warby Parker is Stepping Up

Warby Parker, the well-known glasses company, was founded based on the belief that high-quality eyewear should be offered at more affordable prices. The company has gone further in its mission to make glasses more accessible through its “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program. Specifically, for every pair of glasses purchased at Warby Parker, the company now donates a pair of glasses to a person in need.  

 

 

Warby Parker works with a variety of organizations to make its “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program possible. The company partners with VisionSpring, a social enterprise, to donate glasses to vision-impaired men and women all over the world. Additionally, this partnership allows VisionSpring to perform eye exams in schools. The “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program is fueled by the fact that vision problems frequently become apparent in the classroom. This fact makes these school-based optic screenings all the more essential. Warby Parker also teams up with national government departments, such as the Department of Education in New York City, to distribute complimentary eye exams and to provide glasses to vision-impaired children. The “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program continues to reach people in need on a global level by joining forces with the organization Ver Bien. With Ver Bien, Warby Parker distributes glasses to public school students at the elementary level throughout Mexico.  

 

The efforts of Warby Parker’s philanthropic program have been substantial and wide-reaching. Through “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair”, more than four million pairs of eyeglasses have been given to those in need. Glasses have been donated to people in over 50 countries through the program. Warby Parker has always been an accessible enterprise with its affordably priced glasses. And now with its “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program, Warby Parker has made glasses even more accessible to individuals in need.

Warby Parker has stepped up by choosing to give back in addition to making a profit. This is a goal that individuals and other business alike can be inspired by.
