May 10, 2019

The feeling of having your own living space can be the best one in the world, especially if you’ve always had to share it with someone. Whether its sharing a bedroom with a sibling or bunking with a college roommate, finally having your own apartment means having the freedom to decorate as you please. This means you’ll need a few gadgets here and there to enhance your new area and even save some money. From the website PCmag.com, here are a few gadgets you must have in your apartment:

For your bedside table, why settle for a regular, run of the mill lamp when you can have a Smart Nightstand? Straight from West Elm, it wirelessly charges your phone, plays your music, and keeps your belongings safe. It even has a motion sensing light that come on if it feels you moving around in the dark, whether you’re headed to the bathroom or grabbing a midnight snack.

With summer right around the corner, you can beat the heat with the Frigidaire Smart Window Air Conditioner. Since it connects to your Wifi, you have access to easy temperature controls and even an Alexa Voice Control feature. If you have central A/C and this seems like a problem regarding the electric bill, then you can make it a thing of the past with a smart thermostat that you can also control from your phone.

Have a smoke detector that’s run its course and needs to be replaced? Invest in Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Not only can it test itself and save you money on batteries, but it can even send alerts to your phone so you know what’s going on when you aren’t home.

You’ve heard of the Roomba vacuum, now get ready for the iLife V8s vacuum. It mops and vacuums your floors without you having to do anything! Buy it and see for yourself. One less chore to worry about!

In this era of technology, no new apartment is complete without Wifi. If your current router is giving off a weak signal, then you can invest in a Wifi mesh network system that’ll cover your entire home. Some great examples are the NetGear Orbi, the Samsung Connect Home AC1300, and the Amped Wireless Ally Plus.

Don’t like doing the dishes, but are lacking a dishwasher in your new apartment? Then the SPT countertop dishwasher will make this chore a thing of the past. With a dish rack and silverware basket, automatic detergent and rinse dispenser, and five different cycles (heavy, normal, light, speed, and soak), you’ll have more time for you.

Your lazy days in bed just got better thanks to this powered upholstered Panel Headboard. With 4 USB ports, power outlets, adjustable height, and padded slip cover with diamond pattern button tufting, you may never want to leave the comforts of your bed again. Plus, it fits most standard bed frames, so it's less of a hassle for you when you first place it over your bed.

Make your bedroom and office space one in the same with an adjustable standing desk. Equipped with 2 USB ports, it’s customizable to any space for sitting or standing, can adjust to six different heights, and comes with both an adjustable and fixed shelf to rearrange however you want.

Say goodbye to your worries about running up the light and electricity bill thanks to the Baby Plumen 001 Light Bulbs. Compared to incandescent bulbs, they last 8 times longer, have a low energy design, and don’t even need a lamp shade for added aesthetic.
